I have had this pink trench coat for years now and since it is light weight, I wear it mostly in the spring and fall. However, it does come in handy in the winter time too whenever I need to add a pop of color to my grey and dark colored winter wardrobe. I wore the coat recently with very good layering underneath; a black cowl neck sweater and over sized, high waist plaid pants with pink and grey colors. The pants are really extra long on me and I'm thinking of doing some DIY on the hem. I might cut off an inch or two from the hem and convert it to a belt for the waist of the pants. I'll let you know how it goes. I really plan on doing a lot of DIYs on the blog this year. I believe it is time to start expressing more of my creative side than just consuming everything. Instead of buy, buy, buy...how about I say, make, make, make....hehehe! 😁 I purchased my trench coat which is somewhat like a mackintosh from a thrift/consignment store in my neighborhood called Arc's Value Village years ago. You have heard me talk about the thrift store a lot lately on the blog and this is because I intend to live life in a more eco friendly way going forward. I made a trip to the store recently and would do a post on the items I got in my next upcoming post.
The tip to shopping at a thrift or consignment store is to have a plan and a budget. Make a note before hand of what you want to purchase and also have a budget in mind. I usually have a plan A and a plan B. For example, if I am on the hunt for a winter coat to add to my collection, I put that as number 1 on my list, then I add a blazer as number 2 and maybe a cardigan as number 3. So, If I do not see a coat that I like when I get there, I check for blazers next and so on.... I'm looking forward to styling my blazers on the blog this year and believe me when I say I have lots of them 😊 If you do not have a thrift store in your neighborhood or city, there are a couple of very good ones online now and you can also use sites like ebay and real-real. Some people say they have reservation about buying used or pre-loved fashion but I bet they will not have second thoughts when someone hands them a luggage full of used or pre-loved designer fashion and accessories. So, what are they talking about? Go talk to so called celebrity fashion stylists, they'll give you all the tips when it comes to styling used or vintage fashion and accessories. Ladies, we do not need to splurge to look good.
How are you all doing? How is the new year going so far? I hope you are staying on track with your goals and plans? I do not like to call them resolutions but whatever you have outlined to achieve in the new year, I hope it is going as planned.
The Bible teaches us at all times to be prepared every minute of the day because we do not know when the Lord would return. Although this scripture refers to scriptural growth, how about applying it to every area of our lives?
We can strive to always be prepared when it comes to our spiritual growth, our physical health, our physical appearance, our family situation, our jobs, our homes....you know what I am talking about. There is no more living life on the risky side this year. We have got to live life every second, every minute by being intentional with everything and making every minute count. Thanks so much for stopping by here.
